A few years back I was given this old bike by a friend of mine for helping them pack up for a move across the country she couldn't take it with her. I have been riding the bike pretty hard over the years and shes been good to me but starting to show age and wear a bit. Come over the next year or so as money allows I am going to do a complete tear down and rebuild the old girl from ground up. As of right now it is an old single speed coaster brake nothing to fancy but shes fun to ride. But I live in a somewhat hilly area and planning to use her in the backwoods a bit and riding off pavement so needs a few more gears so planning to upgrade to an 8 speed and gonna rebuild the wheel myself. Nope never done it before so will be my first try at a ground up custom built wheel should be interesting. I will be adding more on this story as I go and will be posting pictures of the build and tear down once it begins this is how the old girl looks before I put some primer on to slow down the rust. Pretty rough eh? should be fun

Mentaly Bent
Sitting at home
In my chair
I am warm in my chair
I get up to
Go for a ride
On my bike
In the cold winter air
Cold at first
Till the legs start moving
But as I ride
And pedal the bike
I start to feel
Alive and warm
The wind in
My face makes
My heart race
I feel so alive
And so free on
My bike
Getting cold
Turning around
Heading back home
Is where I
Will be found
Back in my chair
I sit here and write
My bike is
Put away for the night
Till I feel blue again
I think I will stay in
Warmed in my chair
I sip on my tea
In my chair
I am warm in my chair
I get up to
Go for a ride
On my bike
In the cold winter air
Cold at first
Till the legs start moving
But as I ride
And pedal the bike
I start to feel
Alive and warm
The wind in
My face makes
My heart race
I feel so alive
And so free on
My bike
Getting cold
Turning around
Heading back home
Is where I
Will be found
Back in my chair
I sit here and write
My bike is
Put away for the night
Till I feel blue again
I think I will stay in
Warmed in my chair
I sip on my tea

Wandering
Why do I wander? I do not know
To see new places
To meet new faces
I wander to free my mind and renew my soul
I wander by foot I wander by bike
Sometimes by day sometimes by night
Sometimes I wander without
leaving my home
I wander in my dreams
My thoughts become my feet and my legs
take me to new places I have never been
Why do I wander? I still do not know
Wandering with no place in mind
Wandering to see what I find
Lots of miles to wander still left to travel
Why do I wander? To set myself free
This is why I wander
To see new places
To meet new faces
I wander to free my mind and renew my soul
I wander by foot I wander by bike
Sometimes by day sometimes by night
Sometimes I wander without
leaving my home
I wander in my dreams
My thoughts become my feet and my legs
take me to new places I have never been
Why do I wander? I still do not know
Wandering with no place in mind
Wandering to see what I find
Lots of miles to wander still left to travel
Why do I wander? To set myself free
This is why I wander
Slowly working on it
Not exactly sure what I will be posting here but this will be a work in progress mainly some of my poetry and journal entries about my future bicycle rides and hikes. Check back for updates.
